DiY pencil holder using Ikea pencils..

OK whoever has been to Ikea knows there are stands and stands in Ikea stores providing pencils and measure tapes..
We took some extras :) to make a pencil holder using Ikea pencils..

these pencils are just glued around a cut can of soda..

My Mom's Sewing room..

Feels wonderful working in a place dedicated to just all thing crafty...

Embroidery hoops, even used as organizers..
The thread racks looks cool too, noticed she has lined them up by colors?
Again a collage.. using just pieces from magazines..

This holds most of her scissors but for some reason the scissors are not there in the photo..

Sewing room wall decor.. DIY.

AAh it has been such a long time since i have posted any photos on the blog... just couldn't get the time.. but finally i have gotten around on posting some.. and hoping to continue,,

I had recently decorated a sewing room for a classroom where there were going to teach students how to sew.. these are some of the stuff i had made..

This is my favorite piece of all.. i absolutely loved how it turned out.. a collage of sewing notions.
I simply hunted for some beautiful pieces and stuck it on a framed canvas..
I kind of regret letting this piece go and not keeping it for myself :)

Layered 3 frames.. This piece was quite easy to make again used canvas boards as i had 3 same size pieces on hand, covered them with cloth and stuck real zips, buttons, and threads..

I like these too,, wish i had a whole room dedicated for sewing and crafts so i could put up all these fun stuff up on the wall...
Well these are just embroidery hoops if anyone is wondering..

Ribbons wrapped around spool shaped pieces cut out of MDF material...

Castle Birthday Cake

My daughter wanted me to hold a party for her at her nursery, so i asked her which cake she wants, she instantly replied castle cake :) i tried to make her change her mind because i was kind of finding it difficult to make a castle cake ;) but she would not budge from her choice of cake, so here it is the finished castle cake for her nursery party...
i regret not taking more photos of the cake in the making.. hopefully will remember next time when i make a cake..

Lemon tarts and mini cupcakes...

Snow white play puppets

My daughter loves Snow white and all of the 7 Dwarfs.. So we made these cute very easy ice lolly stick puppets together...
I searched for the pics online as i did not have the stickers for all of the characters, we just cut and stuck them to the stick and voila she had her puppets to play with...

Saffron & Almond Cupcakes

I wanted to make saffron cupcakes from a long time, but never got around to make them until finally now... plus this recipe is actually a little healthy as well, because this cupcakes contains no butter or oil, plus it has almonds.. which normally kids don't eat, but this way my daughter happily ate the almond containing cupcakes..

 ING: 1 teaspoon saffron threads
          2/3 cup milk
          1 cup flour
          1/3 cup ground-up almonds
          1 cup sugar
          1 tsp baking powder
          1/2 tsp baking soda
          pinch of salt
          1 tsp vanilla extract
          1 large egg

Method:
      preheat oven to 375F.
In a mortar and pestle finely crush the saffron threads with 2 tablespoons of warm milk..
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, ground almonds, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In another bowl combine saffron/milk mixture, remaining milk, egg, vanilla.. Mix the dry and wet ingredients together..
Pour into cupcake or muffin tins and bake for around 15 min.. or until done..
Tastes best when it comes right out from the oven..
